Taieri Gorge
The Taieri Gorge Railway travels through ten tunnels and over countless bridges and viaducts on the journey to Dunedin. The railway is the best way to visit Middlemarch

Pukerangi Station
The most peaceful Train Station in NZ, and smallest town with a daily train service. Pukerangi, is a peaceful outcrop on the Central Otago side of the Taieri Gorge. Only 20.5km from Middlemarch … catch the train with your bicycle and ride the rest of the way to Middlemarch before heading out of the Otago Central Rail Trail the next day.

Taieri River Scroll Plain
The Upper Taieri River Scroll Plain is a large natural wetland in the centre of the Maniototo and Styx Basins and is just a short drive from the Middlemarch Holiday Park.
A scroll plain is a flood plain with a meandering river that changes its course during flooding, leaving ox-bow lakes and depressions that hold water for varying periods of time.

Otago Central Rail Trail
The first and perhaps best cycle trail in New Zealand. The trail starts (of finishes) at our back doorstep in Middlemarch.

The Taieri Pet
The Taieri Pet is a dramatic lenticular cloud formation that appears over the Strath Taieri. The Pet is a rare lenticular billow cloud that depending on atmospheric conditions can be a single cloud or an enormous, awe-inspiring pile of cloud layers.

The Strath Taieri Hotel
Built in the 1890's the historic Strath Taieri Hotel is the last remaining pub in Middlemarch and is just a 2 minute walk from the Middlemarch Holiday Park, serving evening meals daily from 6pm.

Kārearea - NZ Falcon
The Kārearea is New Zealand's only endemic falcon and the only remaining bird of prey endemic to New Zealand. A spectacular, lightening fast bird of prey, he frequents the Taieri Gorge and hills above the Strath Taieri. It is smaller than the more common Australian Harrier but no less territorial.
